Broken & Blessed

Broken and Blessed is the remarkable story of Tracy Michaud, a strong, stubborn, and determined girl who, despite all earthly odds stacked against her, does not allow life-altering circumstances to change her smile or her destiny.

Young Tracy knows Jesus loves her, and she often sings “Jesus Loves Me,” as taught by her stepfather—who then goes on to abuse her. Later, as a teenager, Tracy drives the car that kills her stepfather and leaves her an amputee. Her mother refuses to engage in her rehabilitation, so Tracy vows to take care of herself. But filled with shame and feeling unworthy, Tracy leads a rebellious life marked by fear, depression, and hopelessness. But she knows that God sees everything, and she never gives up on seeking Him.

Mind-boggling and miraculous, this is a story of how God uses Tracy’s grit, courage, and faith to free her and her family from generational sin and oppression. His redeeming power, mercy, and grace in her life changes the course of eternity forever, one person at a time.

Author of Broken & Blessed

Have you ever felt discouraged, disappointed, or hopeless?

You are not alone.

Tracy Michaud is a trauma survivor. She is a woman with bold courage and great perseverance. Tracy was born in Holland, Michigan and raised in Zeeland. She was not brought up in the church. Tracy was conceived in sin, just a product of teenage sex. From birth, she was unwanted.

For more than a decade, Tracy experienced emotional and sexual abuse, parental rejection, and neglect. Tracy’s mother knew about the abuse and did nothing to protect her from her stepfather. In fact, she turned a blind eye allowing him to teach her how to drive while underage. Tracy’s life was filled with fear and shame. And just when she thought it couldn’t get any worse, tragedy struck. With Tracy driving, at age fourteen, she was involved in a deadly car accident. Her stepfather, abuser, and the only father she ever knew, died upon impact. Tracy was hospitalized for over a year due to life threatening injuries sustained, which included an amputation.

Shortly after Tracy was discharged, her mother kicked her out. She was only sixteen years old, disabled, and in a wheelchair. She then moved in with her boyfriend. Tracy developed a spirit of rebellion. Music was her security and food her comfort. She made many poor choices that led to self-condemnation, sorrow, and regret.

Once Tracy genuinely repented and turned from her wicked ways, Jesus transformed her life of pain and brokenness. Christ and Christ alone restored her life of fear, shame, guilt, brokenness, great pain and sorrow – healing and redeeming everything from her past.

Tracy’s life is filled with hope, deep joy, inner peace, and confidence in life that only God can provide. Tracy has a life of victory and freedom. She is secure and cannot be rejected because she is accepted in Him, and that’s all that matters. She belongs. Tracy knows that she is forgiven and loved unconditionally by our heavenly Father.

Tracy is not perfect and she knows this full well. Life is not easy, but with a surrendered heart and God at the center, her life is deeply gratifying.

Tracy’s determination to break the cycle of family dysfunction, motivated her to persevere and press on past any challenging life circumstances, rolling over any obstacles that come at her or get in her way. Since childhood, Tracy has endured numerous life-altering tragedies; but nothing has changed her smile. There were many more difficult situations that you can read about in her book, Broken and Blessed.

Tracy loves Jesus and is passionate about helping people. She has a servant’s heart and longs to share the hope she has found in Jesus. Her goal is to inspire and encourage other trauma survivors, to persevere despite obstacles, and never give up. Defeat is not an option! Christ alone has healed, delivered, and redeemed Tracy. She is an overcomer. To God be all the glory!

Tracy is a dedicated wife, loving mother, and blessed grandmother, who lives in West Michigan with her husband, Albert, and their two Chihuahuas. Tracy enjoys spending quality time with her family. She also enjoys biking on her custom-made hand cycle, swimming, kayaking, going on long drives with no destination in mind, and watching the sunset year-round on Lake Michigan.

Do You Know Jesus?

(adapted and taken from my book, Broken and Blessed)

If you haven’t made Jesus the Lord of your life, I personally invite you today. God says in Romans 10:9 that if we make Jesus Lord of our lives and believe He was raised from the dead, we will be saved. Are you ready for a new life? Would you like to receive God’s forgiveness and begin a personal relationship with Him? Pray this simple prayer out loud:

“Jesus, I know that I have sinned. I have made many poor choices and I am in need of a Savior. I am sorry for the way I lived, please forgive me. I believe that when You went to the Cross, You went there for me and my sins. I believe you died and rose from the dead. I trust You to save me right now. I surrender my life to You. Thank you for loving me and never giving up on me. Today, I know I’m saved, born-again, completely forgiven. Help me to live for You every day.

In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

If you just prayed that prayer, let me welcome you into God’s family. You are loved. I encourage you to seek out others you may know who call Jesus Lord and tell them of your decision. In fact, I would personally love to hear from you. Beloved, enjoy the good life Jesus died to give you.
